Mission

Christ is the Center of Saint Rocco School.

Our mission is based on the beliefs of the Catholic Church.

We welcome all students and strive to enrich everyone

through prayer, service, education, and love.

Motto

I am a Saint Rocco Saint.

Being a Saint is the end product.

I am a work in progress,

moving from the ordinary to the extraordinary,

being the best person I can be.

History

Since 1914, Italian immigrants, from the near west side of Cleveland, gathered to pray to Saint Rocco. In 1922 the parish of Saint Rocco was established. In 1924, the Order of Mercy, Mercedarians, came to serve the parish with Father Sante Gattuso, O.de M., who became pastor. In 1927 the Sisters of the Most Holy Trinity, Trinitarians, came to staff the school, which was opened September 6, 1927. Beginning with grades kindergarten to grade eight, it grew until the first class graduated June 14, 1934. The Sisters transitioned out of the school in 2017, and now the school serves families with children from 18 months to grade eight.

Dear School Families and Parishioners,

It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself as the new principal of Saint Rocco Parish School! I am honored to have this opportunity to work with so many dedicated teachers, staff, parents, and outstanding students.

I earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision and a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. I have been dedicated to Catholic education in the Diocese of Cleveland my entire thirty-two year career; twenty-six years as a classroom teacher and assistant principal in all grade levels and the last six years as Principal at Saint Columbkille School in Parma, OH.

My roots at Saint Rocco Parish run deep. My grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles have all been a part of this community. My parents were married here, I was baptized here, and my daughter was recently married here. I am a proud parishioner.

I firmly believe in the importance, mission and philosophy of Catholic Education, the education and safety of all students, compassion toward others and the uniqueness and integrity of each human being. My vision is to make Saint Rocco Parish School the premier school on the West Side.

I will work hard to continue the legacy of success by building strong relationships with teachers, parents, students and parishioners. I look forward to meeting the all of you very soon!

Respectfully,
Renee Bellflower Cerny
